Route

As much as possible, the route will follow the Southern Tier maps published by the Adventure Cycling Association. Weather along this route is best from late fall until early spring. These routes often use secondary roads and try to avoid congested and heavily urbanized areas. The result is a safer and more rewarding bicycle experience. Side trips to nearby communities are also possible.

Major communities along the route include: Saint Augustine, FL; Gainesville, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Pensacola, FL; Mobile, AL; New Orleans, LA; Baton Rouge, LA; Houston, TX; Austin, TX; San Antonio, TX; El Paso, TX; Las Cruces, NM; Silver City, NM; Tempe, AZ; Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA.
